Smoking Chimney Christmas Mantle Decoration

I was going through my Christmas decorations, and found this little tin house that had a hole in the bottom for a candle. I didn’t like the color of the house so I knew I wanted to give it a little makeover with some white paint. I had leftover dollhouse Christmas lights that I used for my DIY village and knew those would be adorable on it! Instead of using a candle inside the house, I had my mini wireless Oil Diffuser that fit perfectly in the hole. When I turn it on it looks like smoke is coming up through the chimney! It smells so good in here with the Christmas oils I used! You could even makeover a dollhouse for this project or place your oil diffuser behind a Christmas House if it won’t fit in a hole.

Supplies

  • Christmas House
  • Paint
  • Dollhouse Christmas Lights
  • Hot Glue/Glue Gun
  • Oil Diffuser
  • Mod Podge
  • Fake Snow

Paint Your Christmas House

I wanted to go with a simple look and just painted my house white. You could go all out for this project or keep it simple! I would do 2-3 coats of paint and let dry in between.

Add Mod Podge & Fake Snow

Once your paint is all dry, it’s time to add your Mod Podge. I put a coat of Mod Podge on the roof and sprinkled my fake snow all over and let dry.

Gluing On Christmas Lights

Measure your Christmas Lights that you will need for each section, and hot glue them onto your house.

Insert Straw Into Diffuser

Cut a straw to appropriate length, and insert into the diffuser hole area. This way you can control the direction of the fake smoke.

Put Your Oil Diffuser Inside Your House

Add your Christmas oils to your diffuser and place inside your Christmas house. I love that it comes up through the chimney and looks like smoke! I LOVE the smell of Christmas!
