DIY Wireless Boho Pendant Light

I’ve slowly been transitioning our home into more of a Boho style. Once we finished our bedroom then it was time to take on the guest bedroom. I took out our Queen size bedframe, and added a cute boho daybed with a trundle. The daybed allowed so much more space in that room and feels less cluttered. I added some cute boho pillows to give it a little pop in there along with adding these wireless pendant lights from IKEA. I debated on hanging two DIY basket hanging lights in the corner, but I have had my eyes on these pendants from IKEA and I’m so glad I got my hands on them for this project! They are the perfect size, not too big and not too small. Below, I will show you how I hung them with some jute and a wireless light bulb so you can add these to any space in your home.

Tools & Supplies

  • IKEA Pendant Lights
  • Wireless light bulb with hook (amazon)
  • Swag Hook (ceiling plant hook)
  • Jute or string or rope of your choice (I used this jute)
  • Scissors

How To Create BOHO Wireless Pendant Lights

Hanging up your Swag Hooks to the ceiling

Figure out the location where you want your pendants hung. The swag hooks comes with a screw-in option or an option with a screw with metal wings. Chances are, you will be using the ones with metal wings because the screw-in option only works when you’re directly on a stud. I put these types of screw-in anchors by first poking a hole with a thin screw or a nail to make sure I’m not on a stud. If I hit a stud, then I will screw directly into it, but you will almost never hit a stud. Take a drill bit the same size as your metal wings when closed and make a hole big enough for the wings to fit. Attach the wings onto the screw, and close them and slide them up into the hole. To tighten the hook to the ceiling, pull down on the hook as you screw it upwards.

Add your Jute to tie to the hooks

Take your Jute or rope or whatever you decided to use to hang your pendants with and measure the length that you will be hanging them from your hooks. I went with a staggered look, but it’s totally up to you! Once mine was measured then I was able to directly tie onto the metal part that is inside the pendant light and secure it from the swag hooks.

Hang your wireless light

The wireless light that I went with has a little hook on it so I could easily just hang this light onto the metal part inside the pendants. The wireless lights are rechargeable, but they don’t come with a remote to easily turn on and off. They are also very bright lights because they are emergency lights. I am planning on adding some yellow colored tape or something to make them a little bit of a warmer bulb.

Enjoy your new boho area!

These pendants add such a cute look to our guest room! Remember, you can use any pendants you want or a couple of baskets to achieve a similar look! I am obsessed with all things boho!
